The Artist Behind the Texture

The Origin Story

Art has always been my first language. From high school Fine Arts classes where I found my spark, to spending six years in the fast-paced garment industry in India as a Fashion Designer, I learned early on that beauty is in the details.

But my true journey as Nitu Arts began in 2018, right here in Edison, New Jersey.

When we bought our first home, our dreams were big, but our budget was limited. We couldn't hire expensive decorators, so I picked up the brush myself. I didn't just paint the walls; I poured my soul into them. I created murals in the bedrooms and canvases for the living spaces. As I transformed my house, I realized I was transforming myself. I wasn't just "taking care of the house" anymore; I was creating a Home.

That was the moment my hobby evolved into my profession. I realized that if art could turn my empty walls into a sanctuary, it could do the same for others.

The Philosophy: Gold & Grounding

My signature style is defined by two elements: Heavy Texture and Gold Leaf.

I am fascinated by the behavior of Gold Leaf. Initially, it was a struggle to master—it is delicate and unforgiving. But with practice, it became my favorite medium. There is a magic in how gold catches the light; it brings a sense of abundance and warmth to a room.

I combine this with thick, heavy textures. For me, the process of creating texture is a meditation. It relaxes my mind. I allow the imperfections of the paste to create something surprising and new every time. I believe this peace gets trapped in the layers of the painting, so when you hang it in your home, you feel that same sense of grounding and calm.

More Than Just Art

Today, seeing my murals across Edison and my paintings in your living rooms gives me a profound sense of victory.

For a long time, I was just "Nitu, the mother" or "Nitu, the wife." But when a client shares a photo of my work in their home, or when I see a review saying my art brought them joy, I feel my true power. Nitu Arts is my proof that it is never too late to reclaim your identity.
